Chapter 1 An overview

Chapter One of 007 First Light plunges the players straight into Bond’s early MI6 days, following the events in Iceland. This mostly Malta-based mission mixes tutorials, stealth mechanics, melee combat and the game’s first major infiltration assignment.

This walkthrough contains all collectibles, key objectives, stealth tips and mission progression for Chapter 1: “The Needle’s Eye.”

Training Grounds Malta

The chapter opens at the Malta training facility where Bond officially begins his MI6 preparation.

Walk past the recruits working out before you go to Greenway and check the table with water bottles nearby. You will learn:

Pick it up right away, because speaking to Greenway will start a cutscene and will forever stop you from entering the area again.

The following sequences introduce the game’s combat systems including:

Close combat
Fights against many enemies
Training exercises
Flag retrieval drills

The session culminates in an extended sparring match against Monroe before Bond returns to MI6 headquarters.

Meet and Greet

When you get into the MI6 lab go to the back right corner of the room to the Particle Testing section. Near the copier is:

Then speak to both Selina and Q.

Selina is outside the main lab section, down the left wall.
Q is sitting nearby, at his workstation.

Choose your favorite watch color, complete Q’s hacking tutorial, and then walk up to the right side of his desk. Scan the highlighted laptop to pickup:

Then, continue the objective by talking to Moneypenny.

A New House

Bond’s next destination is a shared flat with Cressida and Monroe.

When you enter the living room, check the mantlepiece opposite Monroe to pick up:

Go to Cressida’s room and select the dialogue option:

“Got something for me?”

She hands Bond the key to his room.

Once you can roam around the apartment freely, return to Cressida’s room and interact with the wrapped gift box on the bed. This allows:

You can also discuss the paintings with Cressida before moving on, but the dialogue choice doesn’t affect the story.

Steal the Flag – Day Assignment

Bond’s first field assignment introduces the open-ended stealth mechanics of the game.

This mission can be approached in several ways, unlike classic linear stealth games:

Complete stealth
Guard bluffs,
Direct battle

The flag objective is on the rooftops. To get to it, use the ladder on the right-hand side of the training arena.

Greenway questions Bond after he retrieves the flag. Either Truth or Lies will give you the same result so take your pick based on what version of Bond you prefer.

After more training sequences and lab testing, the story moves on to the first night operation.

Night Task – Capture The Flag

This section covers the more advanced stealth systems.

Wait for the mission to start, then wait for Cressida to distract the guards before slipping under the archway.

Proceed down the hall to the right of Monroe, and attract the guard close to him away from the others.

Understanding Bluffing System

Now in the Night Assignment, Bond is introduced to Bluffing, which allows him to evade suspicion instead of relying on stealth takedowns or combat alone.

You also begin earning Instinct points for:

The Eavesdropping Fight
Stealth kills
Good bluffs

An early easy Instinct point can be earned by:

Feigning the guard
Then turning around straight away
Stealth takedown if he looks away

He proceeded to the balcony, looking down on several guards.

You can also score an extra Instinct point by doing an Air Takedown from the ledge on the right, which makes bluffing enemies close by much easier.

To get: Check the stone wall between the guards near the generator area:

Keys to the Compound Basement Collectible Location – Basement

Instead of heading into the building next door, walk around the left side of the compound until you get to the stairs that lead to the pier.

Use the keys to the basement on the double doors by the stairwell.

Inside you will find several guards that can either be:

Silently deleted
Bluffed through
Defeated in battle

Get together in the back of the basement on top of some storage boxes:

Card #2: 7 of Hearts
Capture the Flag

Go back to the main mission area and locate the damaged wall behind the guards near the location of the basement key.

You can join by:

Flung wide the doors
Crawling through the hole in the wall

This section has only a handful of enemies patrolling through it, which is a great opportunity to build additional Instinct through stealth takedowns or close-quarters combat.

Fight your way through the inner hallways and up to the top of the building where the last Flag objective is.

As predicted Monroe soon throws up another problem for Bond.

Escape seq.

After the cutscene go up the ladder and take the zipline towards the pier.

Go to Cressida’s boat and row across the water to Monroe’s place.

After the last cinematic you will get:

Achievement: Love from Malta

This mission, upon completion, will officially complete Chapter 1 and progress the story to the next part of Bond’s MI6 journey.
